Saint-Tropez & Brigitte Bardot

Saint-Tropez & Brigitte Bardot 83990 Saint-Tropez fr

The love story between Saint-Tropez and Brigitte Bardot began since childhood in the family house in rue de la Miséricorde.

The cult scenes from “And God… created woman” were shot at La Ponche. The movie made her a sex symbol. From then, all young women wanted to look like B.B. and copied her Saint-Tropez style: gingham mini dress, ballet shoes, bikini, micro short and basket on the shoulder…

She bought her clothes at Vachon or Chez Choses; she was a model for Jean Bouquin, the designer who had his boutique in a boat warehouse. The Madrague, on Canebiers road, bought in 1958, sheltered her happiness and the most amazing parties of that time. The name of the house inspired the hit song of the same name and the video was shot there. She got the approval from the authorities to build a high wall around her house to protect her-self from paparazzi.

In 1973, after 21 years of career she decided to quit show business and to create the Brigitte Bardot Foundation. Today, she still lives in Saint-Tropez, the city her heart chose where she has two houses: the Madrague and the Guarrigue.
