A Christmas in Alsace alsace fr

An Alsatian Christmas in an unforgettable Christmas!

From the Saint Catherine, on November 25th, to the Epiphany, on January 6th, Alsace adorns itself with its finest decorations to celebrate the most magnificent day of celebration: Christmas.

Over a hundred Christmas markets throughout the region will have you experience the unique atmosphere of Christmas in Alsace.

Founded in 1570, Strasbourg Christmas market is without a doubt the older and the most famous of all thanks to its size and location in the capital of Europe. With its 300 chalets spread over 11 sites in the city centre, young and old will love to stroll from chalet to chalet, enjoying the spice bread, bretzels, confectionery, pastries and mulled wine on offer.

The programme of your visit: towns and villages decorated with thousands of lights, gourmet markets where you can taste sweet treats, craft markets where you will discover the regional know-how...

You will also marvel at the great Christmas tree of Strasbourg, the tallest in Europe, you will make the joy of your children at the Colmar children's market and will bring back some original decorations from the Mulhouse fabric market! Not to mention the festive atmosphere of all the little Alsacian villages throughout the Advent period.

Everywhere you go, in the countryside and in the city, in the streets and in people's homes, you will see illuminated decorations each more beautiful than the last in the purest and most traditional Christmas spirit!

In our beautiful region, the emotional wealth and power of this Christian festival is expressed in its most sacred element: the symbolism of birth and renewal. Men, women and children all come together to bear witness to their attachment to the values they have inherited, over the centuries. They welcome you with open arms, delighted at the idea of making your next Christmas the most fantastic, the mellowest and the most magical of all your Christmas!
