French Restaurant Week: Tous au Restaurant!

Back by popular demand after a successul first three editions, Tous au Restaurant returns from September 16-22, 2013.

The concept: "Your Guest is Our Guest"

2013 brings with it many developments, but the principle remains: "Your guest is our guest."

For this week in September, chefs prepare a special prix-fixe menu composed of an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The first guest chooses this menu, and the second guest receives the same menu for free (drinks may be included or not). The dishes on the menu, its price and the number of tables available are all at the discretion of the chef, as is the reservation policy: tables are either booked on the Tous au Restaurant website, or by calling the restaurant directly.

The festivities: Meeting the Producers

The tastiest recipes would be nothing without good ingredients. To spotlight those who, every day, provide the best of the land and the sea, many chefs have invited their producers to come and meet diners. 

Some restaurants will also be giving behind-the-scenes tours of their facilities and organizing events about wine.

The next generation: Children's Meals

Children will be the top chefs and food-lovers of tomorrow, so it is important to introduce them to new products, flavors and types of cuisine. In this spirit, some restaurateurs will be offering a special children's menu on Wednesdays at noon. Some, like Anne-Sophie Pic, will base dishes on treasured childhood memories, and other like Frédéric Vardon, will whip up their own children's favorite specialties.

The inspiration: Sharing, Passion and Curiosity

The pleasure of a good meal only increases the more it is shared. Tous au Restaurant encourages diners to come in pairs (or as four, or six!) to enjoy a meal together. And the chefs get as much happiness as they give, because nothing makes a chef happier than guests enjoying his or her food.

A passion for fine cuisine unites both the chefs and the diners of Tous au Restaurant. In every Frenchie is a little foodie—sometimes to the extreme—but this is normal for a country whose gourmet cuisine is listed as UNESCO World Heritage.

And there is something to be said for a healthy dose of curiosity. After all, this is what makes us walk through the doors of a new restaurant, or steal bites from our neighbor's plate. And this curiosity is often rewarded with a burst of flavor or new favorite spot.

Many chefs have joined Tous au Restaurant this year, giving it even more depth and a reach across the four corners of France. From Paris to Marseille, from Lille to Strasbourg, through Rennes, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lyon and Montpellier, it is a week of celebrating culinary creations and inspirational chefs, much to the enjoyment of all.
