About a hundred photographs are on display on the ground floor and in the basement ofthe former Store 3 of La Samaritaine, in Paris, built in 1930 by Henri Sauvage in pure Art Deco style.
This temporary exhibition space, constructed in a former department store still bearingthe traces of its previous use, creates a dialogue with the spirit of the neighbouring Samaritaine in which the young photographers worked: Oliver Aoun (France), Clément Briend (France), David de Rueda (France), Tomoya Fujimoto (Japan/France), Marion Gambin (France), Marie Gruel (France), Marin Hock (Belgium), Nica Junker (Germany), Marikel Lahana (France), Philong Sovan (Cambodia) et Vladimir Vasilev (Bulgaria).
It retains echoes - such asthe stair rail - of the architectural splendour that will be fully restored and given pride of place in the Samaritaine renovation project.
The building’s large windows will keep their original function, being used to announce the exhibition.
