MONACO – A 21st century restaurant renaissance continues in the Principality of Monaco. New eateries are opening, others are polishing their Michelin stars and some of the world’s most celebrated chefs are flocking to the shores of the Mediterranean, inspired by its rich culinary heritage and abundance of fresh and flavourful ingredients. Within its borders there are 170+ restaurants, six of which boast a combined nine Michelin stars. A striking culinary accomplishment for such a petite province!

The Fairmont Monte Carlo’s restaurants invite guests to savour the many flavours of Monaco: 

Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa, the acclaimed celebrity Chef and owner of the eponymous chain, opened Nobu restaurant at the Fairmont Monte-Carlo in 2014. Located Between the Casino and the Mediterranean Sea, the restaurant is open every evening for dinner from 7pm and has the Nobu Happy Hour facing the Mediterranean from 6pm to 8pm, the right way to end the day work. From May, every Friday and Saturday, the restaurant will entertain clients with live DJ music and a longer opening, until 1am.

 

The Horizon – Deck, Restaurant & Champagne Bar invites epicureans to discover Mediterranean flavours.Located on the 7th floor of the Fairmont Monte Carlo and offering a magnificent view over the Principality, a journey of the senses awaits the guests. (Open from March to October)

New:

  • The arrival of the daily Happy Hour at the Champagne Bar, from 6pm to 8pm, enables guests to enjoy the champagne of the month at 50% off.
  • A Juice Bar offers guests the opportunity to savour freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices.
  • The Horizon – Deck, Restaurant with the French brand Marguerite du Pré is proposing an original concept: a wonderful organic frozen yoghurt with 0% fat and the particularity of adding guest’s favourite toppings.
  • The Horizon renews its Pink Sunday: a varied buffet of savoury and sweet flavours, meat, fish or vegetables cooked on a barbecue “a la minute”… all inspired by the Pink colour whether it be wine or champagne.

Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse

Boasting not one but three Michelin stars, this world-class restaurant at the Hôtel de Paris is a feast for the eyes as well as the belly. The otherworldly dining room is done up in gold, gilt and dappled light, with chandeliers, busts and ceiling paintings lending a Versailles-like magnificence. Chef Dominique Lory helms a menu inspired by French and Italian cuisine and delivered with Swiss timing and balletic grace.

Le Vistamar

With one Michelin star under its simple yet elegant belt, the restaurant at the Hôtel Hermitage champions the maxim, “take a fish, a vegetable and cook it to perfection”. It is a gastronomic philosophy beautifully orchestrated by head of house Benoît Witz. Summertime? Reserve a table on the terrace for stunning views of the harbour and that iconic Le Rocher.

Yoshi

Located in the grounds of the Hôtel Métropole, the one starred Yoshi is the first Japanese restaurant of French über chef Joël Robuchon and is run with cool grace by chef Takeo Yamazaki. Stripped-back décor combines bright colours, wood and a sushi bar and opens into a small Japanese garden, all to zen-like effect. Lunch comes in a Bento box; à la carte dishes and set menus alike are created with delicacy, creativity and perfectionism.

Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo

The main restaurant of the Hôtel Métropole is in the hands of Joël Robuchon, one of France’s best known chefs, who has focused his prodigious imagination on Mediterranean fare and fresh seasonal produce and was duly awarded two Michelin stars as a result. Head Chef Christophe Cussac, a Robuchon protégé, runs the open plan kitchen to perfection, overseeing the likes of an adventurous 10-course ‘discovery’ menu

Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort’s Blue Bay Restaurant

The reputation of the modern and elegant Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort was further enhanced when its Blue Bay restaurant and French/West Indian chef, Marcel Ravin, was awarded a Michelin star. A 250 seat establishment with panoramic views of the seaside and, especially for foodies, tables positioned opposite the open kitchen, it has a menu inspired by Mediterranean and Caribbean flavours, with dishes that look like art.

Elsa, the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel’s signature restaurant

It was thanks to the vision and culinary talents of Italian chef Paolo Sari that the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel joined the world’s gastronomic elite in 2014, when its Elsa Restaurant was awarded a Michelin star. This 40-seat eatery declares itself the only certified 100 per cent organic establishment to hold a Michelin star and it sources all it’s produce from local and near-by farmers and fishermen.
