L’Occitanie/Sud de France at the CINÉMANIA Festival

The French movie festival CINEMANIA will take place between the 2nd and the 12th of November this year in Montreal. Associated with the French Tourism Board of Occitanie and Atout France in Canada, the festival is proud to dedicate an entire part of its program to this region, which is so rich in cinematographic history. With its unique cultural heritage, Occitanie is the second largest region in France, and appears as an endless source of inspiration for the 7th Art.

Offering a wide range of landscapes – mountains, forests, plains and littorals – this exclusive location inspired many scenarios.
Amongst the most famous realisations Le salaire de la peur by Henri-Georges Clouzot (1952), Cyrano de Bergerac by Jean-Paul Rappeneau (1989) both took place in the Gard county.

Recently movies such as , Le salaire de la peur by Henri-Georges Clouzot (1952), Cyrano de Bergerac by Jean-Paul Rappeneau (1989) were both filmed on the “hauts plateaux” of Lozère.

This year, 4 movies certified by Occitanie – Sud de France will be presented at CINEMANIA :

  • The long awaited TOUT NOUS SÉPARE de Thierry Klifa, a social thriller which presents an amazing duo with Catherine Deneuve & Diane Kruger in the streets of Perpignan and Sète.
  • LES HOMMES DU FEU with Émilie Dequenne, in which the film maker Pierre Jolivet dives into the universe of the Aude region firefighters, nearby Carcassonne.
