The Marine Hotel in Paris is getting ready to let its walls talk

For the first time in more than two centuries, the Marine hotel will open its doors to the public with an innovative scenography on January 2020. The objective of this public opening: show the French Art de vivre heir to the XVIII century through two main courses. Do not miss an immersion through the roots of taste and the effervescence of styles!

The hotel is facing a whole renovation. Located in the Concorde Square in Paris, this hotel will enter the circle of the monuments to be visited in 2020. The innovative scenography of the hotel has for main objective to immerse the visitor in the building decoration and in the history of the French pomp during a musical experience walk.

Immersion in the XVIII century

« The idea is to understand the XVIII century and how it has influenced more than 200 years of history” said Alain Moatti, co-founder of the agency Moatti-Rivière who signs the staging.” The starting point is the effervescence of taste and French style in the eighteenth century".

At the same time, the Center of the national monuments which manage the building is running a restoration of the facades and interiors.

The fabulous scenery will be animated to carry several levels of narration.

The hotel has first been the furniture storage of the crown during its edification by the architect Anges-Jacques Garbiel in 1774. The hotel became the headquarter of the navy minister during the French revolution. Reshuffled in the XIX century, the pomp rooms have been conserved while the apartments of the intendant have been restored to their original splendor: a work based on the archives to find the furniture and objects originals!

Equipped of interactive headphones, the visitors will have to choose between two routes: : a short route through the ceremonial rooms to the loggia overlooking the Place de la Concorde, and a long journey giving access to the intendant apartments and temporary exhibitions. These are also accessible separately.

Stories to discover

By the magic of binaural sound (3D sound) and some visual devices, the fabulous decor will come alive for the purchase of several levels of narration.

And the walls and objects will tell the story of a building at the front row, the execution of King Louis XVI at the arrival of the obelisk, but also the history of the invention of styles or  the one of the navy and beyond "the story of a country that invents a taste and an aesthetic" ...
