Smell mustard and gingerbread. Who hasn’t heard of Dijon mustard? The town was a centre for mustard-making in the Middle Ages – today it’s produced in the neighbouring town of Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur. And Dijon had no less than 12 gingerbread manufacturers up until 1949 – Mulot-Petitjean is one of the oldest still to remain in town.

Taste local wine on the Route des Grands Crus. Nicknamed the ‘Champs-Élysées of Burgundy’, some of the world’s most famous wines are produced here, home to famous names including Marsannay-la-Côte, Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Admire the beautiful vineyard landscapes and the listed Château du Clos de Vougeot at their heart.

Touch antiques at the dedicated fair in May. It’s been running annually for over 30 years at the Parc des Expositions and brings together 120 exhibitors of mainly 18th-century objects, with more than 20,000 visitors pouring in to admire their wares.
