Since 1982, every 21 June, all of France moves at the rhythm of the Fête de la Musique! Between the scheduled concerts and the improvised acts, music fills the streets. While waiting for the big day, we invite you to listen to the playlists created especially for the event!
In France, the first day of the summer is marked by many concerts, mostly outdoors—in the streets, squares, gardens, courtyards, museums, castles, bars and venues all over France.
Jazz, soul, funk, rock, reggae, pop, electro, classical music and current … all styles are in the spotlight on this particular day. Amateur or professional musicians (orchestras, operas, rock bands, choirs, etc.) share their passion for music with the audience for free.
To find the rhythm that will suit you that day, check the website of your destination, the interactive map of the Fête de la Musique, or let yourself be guided by your instincts and follow the music!
Pop, rock, classic, electro … 9 playlists to get into the rhythm
Meanwhile, we’re going to get in the mood with the selection of 18 French titles offered by TV5Monde for the occasion. We love:
And since there will be something for everyone, we cannot forget playlists created by Trax, The Philharmonic of Paris, Rolling Stone, Soul Bag, RDV Hip Hop, the Institute of the Arab World, Tsugi and General Pop. To listen, click here
In 2018, the Ministry of Culture wishes to reconnect with the spirit its origins: the concert of the Palais Royal in Paris is replaced by 6 concerts in different regions, in emblematic spots like rural areas, urban outskirts, and medium-sized towns.
The cities elected this year? Chateaux-Arnoux-Saint-Auban in Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, Château-Thierry in the Hauts-de-France, Marsillargues in Occitania, Pacy-sur-Eure in Normandy, Pierrefitte-sur-Seine near Paris, and Verdun in the East. Where each concert will host an emerging group in the first part of the evening and an established artist in closing.
A quarter of a century after its creation, the event has lost none of its vitality.
