Walk in Emily’s footsteps with a special focus: exploring less well-known locations from the series.
The setting for the series highlights iconic places such as the Eiffel Tower, the Garnier Opera house, the Alexander III bridge, and Montmartre. But Paris is much more than that and has plenty to offer those looking for inspiration and places off the beaten track.
Among the hidden gems of Paris, the Palais Royal is a must. This 17th century garden within walking distance of the Louvre museum and the Garnier Opera house is well worth a visit. Far from the bustling city streets, it is a great place to take a break and enjoy the moment. The tranquil atmosphere is also enhanced by a curious impression of being somewhere that is timeless.
In contrast, if you are looking for a more vibrant ambiance, the 5th arrondissement, on the Left Bank, where Emily lives, is an ideal spot. Especially known for its Latin quarter and Sorbonne area, this area also reveals a more authentic side of Paris. A very pretty part of Paris where you will find small boutique, enjoy the little cafe and their pictural terrasse as well as going to a Boulangerie/ Patisserie, the typical french bakery, where Emily went on her first morning in Paris eating a pain au chocolat (a chocolate croissant) and took a selfie!!
Place de l’Estrapade, where the action is set, or Rue Mouffetard, are good examples of the “village” life that Paris can offer: outdoor food markets, tiny bistros or wonderful parks, such as the Jardin des Plantes.
As well as gastronomy and green spaces, culture is an important ingredient of Parisian lifestyle. With iconic monuments, impressive architecture and more than 140 museums, there is much to explore! Museums dedicated to famous people (Rodin, Victor Hugo) or to the fine arts (Petit Palais) … and places where experience is the key word. The Ateliers des Lumières and the Musée des Arts Forains belong to this special category. With wooden merry-go-rounds and velocipede carousels, the fun fair museum, open for groups or guided tours, proposes an amazing immersive experience to fairground arts and rides dating back to the 1900s. And in the 12th arrondissement, close to Bercy village, a tiny mall among former Parisian wine warehouses offers many exciting discoveries.
The Ateliers des Lumières is one of the most recent cultural venues to open in Paris and is a stunning success. This immersive installation, located in a former foundry in the 11th district, enables visitors to engage with artists and their masterpieces.
