A chic foodie cruise off Marseille

From the Calanques to the Côte Bleue, and the island of Frioul to Corniche Kennedy, Marseille can be equally well explored from the water. How about picnicking on a boat on the Mediterranean with the Phocaean city in the background? It’s a magical experience.

We take our seats in Fjord 36 at Marseille’s Quai d’Honneur, located at the foot of the InterContinental Marseille–Hôtel Dieu. This historic establishment is perched on Panier hill, the oldest district of the city.

The gourmet picnic

On the deck of the boat, in the magnificent setting of the Calanques, we enjoy the spoils of a hamper prepared by Lionel Levy, Michelin-starred chef at the InterContinental Marseille–Hôtel Dieu, one of the city’s leading chefs of Mediterranean cuisine.

An explosion of flavours

Lionel Levy trained with world-renowned chefs including Eric Fréchon and Alain Ducasse. A Marseillais born and bred, he’s a true advocate of using produce from the local terroir to create exciting flavour combinations.

And before we know it it’s time to return, after a half-day break on the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. We soaked up the views and we feasted... it’s a truly beautiful life in Marseille!
